Shadrack (13) writes thank you note

Last week our colleagues in Tanzania received a very special letter. Until recently Shadrack (13) got beaten regularly by his uncles or his granny forced him to stay home from school. Since two of his family members followed the training Skilful Parenting their family life has improved significantly. Shadrack decided to write a thank you note to the local ICS team.

Shadrack wrote the letter in Swahili, we have translated it to English:

Child Feedback letter - Swahil.jpgMy name is Shadrack Jurias and I am a standard seven student. I am fine, at the moment all is well over here. I would like to convey my sincere appreciations to you for training my uncle and granny on Skilful Parenting. I must say that before the training, we had so many challenges in life including the following:

- Constant beatings from my uncles even for committing minor mistakes
- My granny regularly denied me permission to go to school
- My granny also denied me a chance to go and play with friends

Since you trained my family, life has really changed for better. Our extended family comprises of my granny, two uncles, an aunt and five nieces and nephews. Once again, thank you for the training and keep up the good work you are doing.

Regards, Shadrack Charles Jurias
