Responsible to: Regional Program Manager
Location: Nairobi
Salary : KES 60,000.00 p.m
Hours : 40 Hours
Contract conditions : One year fixed term contract with the possibility of extension. 

Introduction

Geodatics Regional Project Office (R.P.O) integrates geodata and satellite data into tailor made advise and other commercially viable products and services for smallholder farmers and their value chain in Kenya and Tanzania. With these products and services, smallholders can improve their agricultural production and reach family food security. The R.P.O aims to be a sustainable social enterprise delivering smart advice to farmers.

Geodatics will start delivering its service in 2016 and aims to provide services to 200,000 smallholder farmers by 2018. By providing tailor-made advice smallholder farmers are better able to increase their yield in terms of quality and quantity.

Geodatics R.P.O is partner in the Geodatics project with duration of 3 years (2016-2018) and  (Agrics Kenya, Agrics Tanzania, Biomass Research (Netherlands), ICS (Netherlands), Manobi (Senegal) and Wageningen University (Netherlands). In fact, the Geodatics social business is the expected offspring of the project. Geodatics as a social business, aims to break-even by 2019.  

Job Purpose

To support the Regional Project manager in the development and implementation of services to smallholder farmers. This requires an enthusiastic, highly motivated individual who can work autonomously and as a part of a small team.

The project assistant will work closely with abovementioned project partners and will assist in the organisational set-up and development of the R.P.O office and its portfolio. He/she will also develop training modules for the Geodatics products and services.

Main Duties

  • Track project deliverables and status with appropriate tools and work packages
  • Constantly monitor and report on progress to all stakeholders
  • Assist in report preparation defining project progress, challenges and solutions
  • Assist in financial administration and financial report preparation
  • Communication with the Geodatics project manager and partners
  • Prepare responses to routine enquiries
  • Prepare agendas for meetings and prepare schedules
  • Handle requests for trainings, information and data
  • Handle administrative issues and maintenance of petty cash
  • Will require travel for trainings and meetings
  • Other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the R.P.M.
